  • aaron's arms prayer ministry |  718-448-4857 (Gwenn)

Jesus says “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28). This is a beautiful invitation to prayer. Aaron’s Arms Prayer Ministry is for all those who have confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ, knowing that if they ask anything according to His will, He hears them. As a prayer ministry, Aaron’s Arms regularly brings our Bethany family before the throne of our Lord, seeking to grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ by His word and through our various life situations. From one-on-one to small gatherings to larger corporate prayer ties, and our prayer chain via e-mail, we seek the Lord for those in need, for His guidance in reaching out to our community, and that in all we do the name of Jesus Christ will be exalted among His people.

Aaron’s Arms Prayer Ministry is led by Joanne Cresci and Gwenn Monopoli. They met in Math 010 at The College of Staten Island under the instruction of an eccentric professor, forcing Gwenn to speak to Joanne whom she deemed as “normal”. Along the journey of friendship, Joanne learned Gwenn was a Christian. Although it took some time, (along with Gwenn’s relentless prayers) Jesus was working all that time- He captured Joanne as well.

Sundays- Prayer requests taken during Worship Service, intercessory prayer following Worship Service

  • Bethany’s Adult Sunday School gathers on Sunday mornings before our Worship Service to spend time discussing a segment or topic found in Scripture. Pastor Paul enjoys the fact that even as the teacher of this ministry, he learns so much from the sharing and insight of those who participate. The goal of the ministry is for people to grow in their knowledge and understanding of the Scripture in a way that grows and sustains faith in Christ.

Bethany Men’s Fellowship is a ministry where the adult men of our church gather together to get to know each other better, support each other, and to share practical ways to serve our Savior. Led by Ray Bevilacqua, who has been live on the radio as a contest winner multiple times, the men always have a great time of fellowship; sharing their everyday life experiences through talk, Bible study, and prayer.

Every other Thursday at 7:30pm at Bethany Church.

  • Bethany’s Midweek Bible Study is for any adult who seeks to study God’s Word and be part of a community. This ministry is led by Pastor Paul Couch, who was first taught how to lead a Bible Study in college through InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. At their weekly meeting, the MidWeek Bible Study spends time reading Scripture and discussing questions concerning the particular passage or topic that is being studied. This ministry gives time and space for individuals to grow in their love of Christ and love for others who are in the group through focus on God’s Holy Word.

Wednesdays, 7:30-9:00pm in the Parsonage (September through June)

  • moms fellowship & playgroup

Moms Fellowship & Playgroup is an awesome ministry for mothers of young children (infant to preschool).  This group, led by Catie Couch, connects and supports moms from the church and community while their children spend time playing with one another.  Catie is mom to two beautiful children; Josiah (age 5) and Eliana (age 2).  She loves to spend time outdoors, enjoying God's creation by hiking, biking, and camping, but is not a fan of all of the mosquitoes!  When these moms get together, they enjoy a time of fellowship (& cup of coffee!) and have an opportunity to share devotional resources and prayer requests, encouraging each other to trust more deeply in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Wednesdays, 10:00-11:30am in the Church Basement

  • women in the word bible study  |  718-448-4857

“All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17) The Women in the Word Bible Study is for women of all ages; young adult through seniors, and led by Gwenn Monopoli. These women use a study guide book to dig deeper into a book or theme in the Bible and at their meetings they share and glean in what is learned and discovered through the lesson. The study opens and closes in prayer and they often end listening to or singing along with a song that ties into the theme of the lesson.

Despite her knowledge and love for the Word of God, Gwenn was not raised with a Bible in her hands. Her first and lasting experience in the Word came as she was a Sunday School teacher at Bethany and then as Sunday School Director. As she prepared lessons for the children each week, Gwenn also experienced the wonderful truths found in God’s Word; His love for her, His creation, the stories, miracles, and the amazing salvation that God, through His Son Jesus Christ, provided for her. How could she not desire to have others gather around this incredible book of life?! Leading women in study is a blessed place for Gwenn to be. Gwenn’s desire for this ministry is to gather around the Word of God, to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord, and to be able to encourage and exhort one another. “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Mondays: 9:30am to 11:00am at Church (Babysitting provided)

OR 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Gwenn’s home- 155 Goodwin Ave., 10314 (No Babysitting provided)

  • women's home bible study  |  718-494-8166 (Kari)  |  718-448-8752 (gladys)

The Women’s Home Bible Study is made up of a small group of “older” women who have a desire to study God’s word. These lovely ladies spend time praying, studying God’s word using “LifeGuide Bible Studies” workbooks and talking about how to apply it to their lives, and fellowshipping with friends over a cup of coffee and cake. Women’s Home Bible Study is led by Kari Nilsen and Gladys Jensen; between the two of them they have been part of Bethany for over 140 years! This is a shared ministry in that all of the women are leaders, “treaters”, and hosts.

Every other Thursday morning at 9:30am (Sept. through June).

They always meet in a home but location may vary.
